Merry Wives - The Delacorte Theater - August 9, 2021
I can’t tell you how excited I was to see Shakespeare in the Park again. This production of Merry Wives in particular was so well performed and staged, and the set design was breathtaking.
Now, I do love Shakespeare, but even for a non-theater lover, I thought the Public Theater did a phenomenal job translating the play to South Harlem and making it relevant to modern audiences. And being back in the park with an audience full of people really hit home that New York is back.
Luckily, the production has been filmed for PBS’ Great Performances, so be sure to watch this show when it airs! The production is running through Sept 18 with a digital lottery (and a day of text-standby line) so try your luck to see some incredible free theater!
